Mum

My mum was a beautiful lady with the most amazing naturally curly hair and a
winning smile. She had a great sense of humour, an
open heart, a love of life, good food,
travelling abroad Turkey in particular, nature, bird watching and art. Mum was
multi- talented with
a love of fashion she set up her own shop supplying ladies fashion in
Cadishead, her warm personality made her shop a success and through it she made
more friends who she was still in touch with. She
was an artist who loved to experiment with different styles and techniques she
also used her artistic flare in the window displays in her shop and produced
many stunning pictures at home and at night school.
She had a beautiful voice when she sung . She used to play the piano when
she was younger .She adored her Grandchildren Janine and Sara and Brother Butch and son in
law Simon. She was always checking what they were up to and her face
would light up when she saw them or heard from them.
She valued the friendship, care and
support she received from her neighbours, particularly Bev and Phil.
She was a very determined and independent
lady who in the last 4 years has battled with the effects of Parkinson's
Disease to remain as independent as possible and despite communication
challenges managed to make her wishes known to family and close friends. She wanted to stay at home for as long as was
practically possible and with support, was
able to do this until recently this year. Her
oldest friend June remained loyal for 60 years and visited her regularly both
at home and when Mum was in hospital and when she finally moved to a
residential care home. Mums wish was that when her time had come that
she could help medical research as her Mum and Dad had done, which she was able to do. She was always thinking of others and this act was a demonstration of
this.
